Late Paternal Grandfather: Leu
I sent an email to GENEALOGICAL AND HERALDIC SOCIETY OF THE REGION OF BASEL and was given this information about my father's father's parents, which I previously did not know:
Hans Felix Leu was born 1. Dec. 1925 in Basel. His parents were Hans Mathias Leu and Frida Elisabeth Schmidt. Hans Mathias Leu came from Leiniswil, canton Bern, but was also from Basel. Hans Mathias Leu's parents were Hans Leu and Anna Jenny last name unknown. Frida Elisabeth Schmidt's parents were Friedrich Schmidt and Frieda Blum.
I never had the chance to meet my father's father, Hans Felix Leu. I guess they were estranged for years. I don't know the names of his parents, so I have been trying to find out more about that family line.

ReplyDeleteI knew your Grandfather Hans (he was Johnny!!!!!) Leu and his second wife Haescheli. I had also met your father Felix when he was visiting them in Bottmingen BL. Haschi called him "Tingueli"! I had also met your mother, sailing on the lake of Thun..... "Johnny", your Grandfather had a fabulous racing boat on the Lake of Thun. Would love to tell you more about your Grandfather!!!!!
